Dear C.P.I.O. Members:
Over half way through the year, our members are faced with a number of mountains and molehills to climb. As an industry united as a whole, we should be able to ban together and fight these issues as a strong organization.
For those who are not members, we encourage you to join the organization as we will need to speak as Investigators of volume in all situations, whether they are small or large.
Charlie Robb’s Tournament was a great success!!!! Thanks to all who assisted in the planning, Domenic Sturino and Melanie Earle and Jeff Williams who volunteered to welcome golfers. I would also like to graciously thank all those who golfed at the Charlie Robb Golf Tournament on September 16, 2009. Your participation, great will and support for Mr. Robb’s family was appreciated by all. Thanks to Bill Joynt, Master of Ceremonies, and Alan Hanley, for his fond memories that he shared with all of us and for Charlie’s family for traveling long distances to attend. A special thanks to Mustang Investigations, Garda, IRG, and IGI for sponsoring the Robb foursome to golf. Further thanks to Alliance Security Response & Investigations, Nielsen and Associates-Investigations Inc., Whitehall Investigations, and MKD International Inc. for their generous prices and King Reed for donating the plaques for the winning foursome. Thanks to Don Colbourn who provided the Toronto Maple Leaf tickets to raffle.
With over half a year gone, as President, I would like to thank the board who has worked so diligently to assist in the growth of this organization. As the website is up and running, we encourage all members to view the members only area where sensitive information is available. We also encourage you to contact us with any other issues that have arisen.
Over the past several months, the board has encountered a number of issues from the Privacy Commissionaire’s office and requests by this office to disclose complaints against some agencies from the Registrar’s office, even if these complaints were found to be unwarranted. Mr. Norm Groot represented the Council of Private Investigators – Ontario and its members in these matters. There is also the new training process that is expected to be in force early next year. There have been a number of Past Presidents that participated in the testing process along with myself. The industry as a whole specifically relating to Private Investigators was well represented during these meetings.
On December 3, 2009 we will be holding a meeting in honor of a past President, Mr. William Urquhart who passed away last year. We also intend to have the meeting in a facility that will allow wireless internet to our members so that we can familiarize the members with the website. So bring your laptop, your questions and your ideas.
As a board, we welcome you to submit articles to populate our site as well as submit your name forward for a future position on the board. These articles can be submitted on line, reviewed by the board and then posted accordingly. Since the website was built from scratch and as volunteers, we have been unable to populate the site as quickly as we had hoped. We would also like suggestions for advertising, conferences, training sessions and assistance with a quarterly newsletter.
We will soon be entering this 2010 and your C. P. I. O. Board is working towards making this a very successful year for our members and organization. As a board, it has been a very time consuming roll for all of us and no one’s efforts on the board have gone unnoticed.
In the near future, we will be providing our members with a number of discounts received for CPI-Ontario members. These discounts will be posted on our website along with in the Membership packages prior to our December 3, 2009 meeting.
As an organization, we are looking for volunteers to participate on the board and assistance with new areas of the website. Please feel free to contact us with any suggestions or any assistance that you can provide.
Help us make your organization as strong as possible going into 2010!!!!!
Regards,
Debbra Macdonald
President
C.P.I.O.
