Council of Private Investigators - Ontario


The Council of Private Investigators - Ontario is an Ontario non-profit corporation established to represent the interests of private investigators licensed in this Province.

The functions of the Council of Private Investigators - Ontario (hereinafter referred to as "CPIO") include professional development seminars, lobbying on behalf of the industry on political issues of the day which may impact those in the industry, and consulting with the Registrar of the Private Investigators and Security Guards Act with respect to such incidents as unlicensed investigators and other matters of concern to the private investigation industry. It is the only organization of its type in the Province of Ontario.

MEMBERSHIP


Membership in CPIO carries certain responsibilities, some of which are detailed in this application. Note specifically that by completing this member application:

  • you agree to comply with CPIO's Privacy Code and Code Ethics. You may review these codes by clicking on the appropriate section in the index box located to the left of this screen. You will also find these codes on pages 4 through 8 and the codes are an integral part of this application.
  • you agree to fully cooperate with the CPIO Ethics Committee in connection with any investigation The Committee may undertake as a result of any code violations allegation which may be made against you.
You may apply for membership in three ways:

CLICK HERE to print a copy (Microsoft Word format) of this application and submit it to CPIO's Administration Office along with a cheque made out to CPIO for dues payment.

Regardless of the application method chosen, CPIO will require a completed hard copy of the application. You may use the Microsoft Word application found on this web site or you may request a pre-printed application form from the Administration Office. CPIO requires your signature on an application document along with payment of the annual dues before the application process can be finalized.

All applications must be accompanied by a letter from the applicant which summarizes their background and their years of practical experience in the private investigation business.
